I went here to Corbans Estate with my support worker some weeks ago.

Unfortunately someone has mislaid my copy of the book that came with the exhibition.
I’ve just been to another artists show in Titirangi. It’s beautiful there. I wish I could live in Titirangi in the bush.
I intend to get out of here asap. I’m over living here.

Unfortunately I don’t know the name of the artist, but it was a good trip out for the day.

La Vergine in Adorazione (The Virgin in Adoration) is a subject made famous by the Renaissance artist Fra Filippo Lippi. In these devotional paintings, the Virgin Mary kneels in prayer before the infant Christ, who lies on the ground rather than in a cradle. This imagery comes from the visions of Saint Bridget of Sweden, who described Mary adoring the newborn Jesus immediately after his miraculous birth. [wga.hu], [it.wikipedia.org]
A well-known version, commissioned by the Medici family around 1458-1460, shows:
The painting is notable because it departs from the traditional Nativity scene. Instead of focusing on the stable, animals, and other figures, it centers on a quiet moment of prayer, humility, and contemplation between mother and child. [wga.hu], [en.wikipedia.org]
The title translates simply as:
La Vergine in Adorazione → The Virgin in Adoration. [nsuworks.nova.edu]

There are places that stay with you long after you’ve left them, and the Catedral de Canarias in Las Palmas is one of those places. I found this image in an archive collection, but it immediately pulled me back to my own time in Gran Canaria — the warmth, the colour, the sense of calm that settles over you when you’re somewhere beautiful.
The cathedral rises out of the old quarter like a quiet monument to light and space. Inside, the tall columns feel almost like trees, lifting your eyes upward. The arches guide you forward, the pews line the nave in perfect rhythm, and the air carries that soft hush you only find in old sacred buildings. Even in a photograph, you can feel the height and the stillness.
Gran Canaria was beautiful when I visited — not just the beaches and the sun, but the way history and everyday life sit side by side. This cathedral is part of that story. A place shaped by centuries, yet still full of quiet moments for anyone who steps inside.
Finding this image again feels like rediscovering a small piece of my own journey. A reminder that places stay with us, even when we don’t expect them to.
